Vacuum circuit breakers are the primary switching device in medium voltage distribution systems. They carry normal load current every day for decades, then interrupt a short-circuit fault in milliseconds — reliably, every time.
Manufactured by Dongfa Intelligent — a direct manufacturer with 14 years of focus on high voltage electrical equipment. Five product types cover indoor switchgear, outdoor overhead lines, high-humidity sites, compact cabinets, and renewable energy installations.
Each type is optimized for a specific application — indoor switchgear rooms, outdoor overhead lines, high-humidity environments, compact cabinets, or renewable energy systems.
For switchgear installation, handcart or fixed type. The standard choice for indoor substations, industrial plants, and commercial buildings. Handcart type allows the breaker to be withdrawn for maintenance without de-energizing the busbar.
For overhead distribution lines. Resistant to wind, sand, and condensation — engineered for the environmental conditions that destroy standard indoor breakers when installed outdoors.
12kV outdoor pole-mounted with a permanent magnet mechanism instead of a spring mechanism. Fewer moving parts, no internal condensation, no mechanism corrosion — ideal for high-temperature and high-humidity environments.
40.5kV solid-insulated pole, integrating circuit breaker, disconnector, and earthing switch into one device. Designed for C-GIS and compact cabinets where separate isolation devices cannot be accommodated.
40.5kV, adapted to the frequent switching duty of renewable energy systems. Wind and solar installations cycle their breakers far more often than conventional distribution — opening time 20–50ms ensures fast fault clearing.
Vacuum circuit breakers are deployed across the full spectrum of medium voltage distribution — from urban grid upgrades to renewable energy plants.
Distribution networks and grid upgrade projects at 12kV to 40.5kV.
Power distribution for industrial enterprises, mining operations, and heavy manufacturing.
Electrical infrastructure for commercial buildings, municipal facilities, and public projects.
Rail transit and transportation infrastructure electrical installations.
Wind, solar, and renewable energy generation facilities.
OEM components for complete electrical switchgear cabinet manufacturers.
Three dimensions decide whether the breaker will still be reliable in its tenth year.
Confirm the system voltage (12kV, 24kV, or 40.5kV) and the prospective short-circuit current. The rated breaking capacity — 20kA to 40kA — must exceed the fault current at the installation point.
Choose spring mechanism for standard indoor switchgear, or permanent magnet mechanism for high-humidity and frequent-switching applications. The permanent magnet type reaches 30,000 operations versus 10,000 for spring.
Indoor switchgear, outdoor pole-mounted, compact C-GIS cabinet, or renewable energy site — each demands a different insulation and mounting design. Confirm handcart or fixed type, phase spacing, and mounting dimensions.
Zhejiang Dongfa Intelligent Electrical Technology Co., Ltd. has manufactured high voltage electrical equipment since 2012 — based in Yueqing, Wenzhou, China's high voltage electrical industrial hub. We are a direct manufacturer with no trading intermediary and no subcontracting.
Vacuum circuit breakers are assembled on dedicated production lines. Each unit undergoes mechanical operation testing, trip characteristic testing, and dielectric withstand testing before shipment. Products are type-tested to GB and IEC 62271 standards, with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certified management systems.
“We purchased Dongfa Intelligent's 12kV indoor vacuum circuit breakers for an industrial park distribution project in Indonesia. With 10,000 operations mechanical life, they have operated for three years without mechanism jamming. Their technical team provided very professional selection advice.” — Procurement Manager, Southeast Asian Power Engineering Company
Technical and commercial questions buyers ask when specifying vacuum circuit breakers for medium voltage distribution projects.
Choose a spring mechanism when the switchgear room is climate-controlled and maintenance access is available — it is the proven standard, lower cost, and widely serviced. Choose a permanent magnet mechanism when the breaker will face high temperature, high humidity, or outdoor conditions that cause spring mechanisms to corrode or seize. The permanent magnet mechanism has far fewer moving parts — no springs, no latches, no mechanical linkage — which is why it reaches 30,000 mechanical operations against 10,000 for a spring mechanism. It also eliminates internal condensation, a common failure mode in humid climates.
A three-position breaker integrates circuit breaker, disconnector, and earthing switch into a single solid-insulated pole. The three positions are: closed (conducting), open (isolated), and earthed (safety-grounded). You need one when the switchgear cabinet is a C-GIS or compact design where there is no space for separate isolation and earthing devices. The solid insulation also eliminates the SF6 gas used in conventional gas-insulated switchgear, which matters in markets with strict greenhouse gas regulations.
Because the mechanism determines what wears out. A spring mechanism has springs, latches, cams, and a mechanical linkage — all of which accumulate wear with every operation, and the rated 10,000 operations is the point at which the mechanism needs servicing. A permanent magnet mechanism replaces the entire spring-latch system with a magnetic holding circuit and a small actuating coil — far fewer parts to wear. This is why it reaches 30,000 operations. For applications with frequent switching duty, such as renewable energy integration, the difference in maintenance intervals over a 20-year service life is substantial.
Choose handcart type when maintenance access matters — the breaker can be withdrawn from the switchgear for service without de-energizing the busbar or disturbing adjacent circuits. This is the standard for medium voltage switchgear in industrial and commercial installations where planned maintenance windows are short. Choose fixed type when the breaker is installed in a compact cabinet, when the switchgear room is small, or when the breaker is not expected to need frequent removal.
GB is the Chinese national standard for high voltage switchgear; IEC 62271 is the international equivalent. The two standards are technically very close — the same vacuum interrupters, the same dielectric test voltages, the same mechanical life requirements — but the certification and type-testing procedures differ. For projects inside China, GB is mandatory. For projects outside China, IEC is usually the specified standard. Our products comply with both, and we can supply type test reports under either standard depending on the project's specification.
Yes. MOQ is 1 unit, with a standard lead time of 7–15 working days. This lets project teams verify the breaker's dimensions, terminal arrangement, and mechanism operation on a real unit before committing to a production order. For urgent projects, orders can be prioritized — confirm the delivery requirement in the inquiry and we will advise whether the schedule can be met. Factory-direct pricing means trial orders are not penalized with a higher unit price.
